Vaccinations

Vaccinations for the canine parvovirus, distemper, and infectious hepatitis must be up to date at least two weeks before scheduled travel. In the case of puppies sixteen weeks or younger, no less than two vaccinations must have been administered two weeks prior to travel. These vaccinations must have been administered at least four weeks apart.

For dogs 16 weeks or older they must be vaccinated according to the manufacturers recommendations but at least 2 weeks prior to departure.

MPI will need to see the vaccination book on the day of departure to verify your dog’s vaccination status.

Restricted Breeds

There are several dog breeds that are not allowed entry into Singapore: Fila Brasileiro, Tosa, Perro de Presa, Akita, Neapolitan Mastiff, Beorboel, Dogo Argentino, Canarios and Pit Bull Terriers.

Any dog which is crossed with any of these breeds is also unable to be transported to Singapore from New Zealand.

Certification and Import Permit

Your dog must have a Zoosanitary Certificate signed by a qualified veterinarian. We will arrange this for you.

Your dog must have been resident in New Zealand for a minimum of 6 months, since birth or since being imported directly from Singapore.

You will need to arrange for your local Vet to treat your dog for internal parasites (ticks and fleas) and external parasites (nematodes and cestodes) between 2-7 days of departure this must be signed off by the Vet in your dogs vaccination book showing the date, product used and Vets details.

Prior to MP issuing the Certificate they will examine your dog and check that they are healthy, free from any infectious or contagious disease and fit to travel, if female tey will determine that she is not pregnant.

An import license must also be filed with the AVA (Agro-Food and Veterinary Authority) of Singapore 30 days before departure and the Quarantine Office must be contacted at least five days before your pet’s expected arrival.

Microchip

Your dog must have a microchip implanted to travel to Singapore. His/her chip should comply with ISO (International Standards Organization) standards. If it does not, an electronic reader must be provided to determine the chip’s identification code.

Microchips from New Zealand are ISO compliant.

Containers and Transport

An IATA (International Air Transport Association) regulated, escape-proof container is required to transport a dog to Singapore. It should also be roomy enough to allow some comfort on the long journey. We will be able to supply you with an cage which meets all regulations before your dog travels.

Age

Although the minimum age to enter Singapore is 12 weeks old, Singapore Airlines will not accept any puppies under the age of 6 months.

We can still send your puppy into Singapore however they will need to travel via Australia
